Digital Photography

Digital PhotographyStudents explore the basics of digital photography and the optical principles that make it possible. Students take, download, and edit digital pictures. Digital cameras, tripods, and photo-editing software are among the major equipment in this unit.

Lesson 1: Intro to Photography

In this lesson students learn about the history and science of photography through information pages and teacher lecture. Students research additional information related to photography and camera technology as well as related careers. Students write reports regarding their findings.

Lesson 2: Capturing and Downloading Photos

In this lesson students learn the basic elements and strategies behind taking a good photograph. Students learn the basic photo taking function of the digital camera and how to use the tripod. They also learn how to download their photos.

Lesson 3: Cropping and Resizing

In this lesson students learn how to crop their photos using a photo editing software. Students use the crop feature to cut out extra parts of photos and bring focus to the subject of their photos. They also learn how to resize their photos.

Lesson 4: Color Editing

In this lesson students will learn how to use the photo-editing features specifically geared toward color editing in a photo editing software. Students edit colors in their own photos.

Lesson 5: Photo Effects

In this lesson students learn about editing features specifically geared towards adding effects in a photo editing software. Students learn how to add a variety of effects to their photos.

Lesson 6: Photo Album

In this lesson students will learn how to create a photo album based on TSA regulations. They will then create a photo album.
